Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the team access places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Fans can expect learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
